A letter of reference implies that:
1) I know you well enough to write and submit a letter.
2) I have had enough experience to judge your abilities over time.
3) You write and communicate very effectively.
4) You are reliable. This means you always attended scheduled meetings and were always on time. You achieved your tasks on time and consistently.
5) You demonstrated excellent research competence (i.e., You were a critical thinker, you understood and could perform statistics, you asked good questions, you read the relevant literature, you were always professional, you followed basic instruction, you completed assignments, you did not provide excuses, you demonstrated that the laboratory work was a priority).
6) You demonstrated professional competence at all times.
Once you have successfully completed 24 months in the infancy laboratory (4 semesters), I will be able to judge the above. Please feel free to ask for my assessment of your performance after six or twelve months.
